The belief
Families sometimes worry if a child is born on Amavasya (new moon). In Vedic astrology, however, no tithi is inherently “bad.” Each carries a flavor that can be channeled constructively.
What charts actually show
The overall horoscope decides temperament and destiny—lagna strength, Moon’s dignity, yogas, and the dasha structure. Amavasya births may reflect introspection and spiritual sensitivity when the Moon is supported.
Parental guidance
- Focus on nourishment of mind—music, mantra, nature
- Strengthen Moon through routine and good sleep
- Avoid fear; invest in the child’s strengths shown in the chart
