For a Virgo ascendant, Jupiter rules the fourth house of home, mother and property and the seventh house of marriage and partnership. Its mahadasha, the long planetary period of sixteen years, therefore tends to bring settling down, in both senses, into the foreground: a place to live, and a person to live with.

Tradition rates it a mixed period for this ascendant rather than an easy one, and the reasons are specific to Virgo. They are worth knowing before you apply a general description of Jupiter's period to your own years.

What Jupiter rules in a Virgo chart

Start the count at Virgo and Jupiter's two signs land in the fourth and the seventh: Sagittarius on the fourth, Pisces on the seventh.

Here the seventh is read against the fourth rather than against career, and that pairing is the whole character of the period. Increase, in the plainest sense. The old texts extend the same idea to the body and to the weight it carries. Neither is a warning. Both are worth noticing, because the maintenance is the part nobody budgets for.

What Jupiter is joined to or aspected by. Saturn, Mars, Rahu and Ketu in contact with the period lord change the period's texture more than the lordships do.

The sub-periods. Nobody experiences sixteen years as a single thing.
