When will I get married, and what a kundli can honestly say about timing

A kundli can indicate periods in which marriage is more likely, usually a window of a year or two, sometimes a few such windows across a life. It cannot give you a date, and anyone who gives you one is guessing with confidence. What follows is how the timing is actually read, and why the marriage age tables you find by rashi are not astrology at all.

This is the question I am asked more than any other, usually by someone who has been waiting and has begun to worry. So let me answer the honest part first: waiting is normal, delay in a chart is not a punishment, and most of the anxiety around this question has been manufactured by people selling remedies for it.

Why marriage age by rashi is not a method

You have seen the lists. Aries marries at 24 to 28, Capricorn at 30 to 36, Pisces at 25 to 30. They are written to be shareable and they mean nothing.

Your Sun sign, or even your Moon rashi, is one factor out of dozens, and it is shared with roughly a twelfth of the human population. It cannot possibly time an event in your life. If a rashi genuinely fixed a marriage age, every person born in that month across India would marry in the same five-year band, and they plainly do not.

The tradition never claimed this. Classical timing works from the whole chart, from the running planetary period, and from where the slow planets are moving at that moment. Rashi-wise marriage age is an internet invention wearing traditional clothes.

What is actually read

Three layers, and they have to agree before a practitioner will name a window.

The promise in the chart. First, whether marriage is well supported at all: the condition of the 7th house and its lord, the condition of Venus, which the tradition treats as the general significator of marriage and of the wife in a man's chart, and of Jupiter, treated as the significator of the husband in a woman's chart. Strong and clear support tends to be read as earlier and easier. Support that is weakened, or heavily involved with Saturn, Rahu or Ketu, is read as later and more conditional.

The running mahadasha. This is the main timing instrument. Life is divided into long planetary periods, each with its subdivisions, and events are read as belonging to the period of the planet that carries them. Marriage is looked for in the period or sub-period of the lord of the 7th house, of a planet sitting in the 7th, of Venus, or of Jupiter, and in periods of planets connected to those by aspect or placement. This is why two people with similar charts marry ten years apart. Their periods run in a different order, because the order depends on the nakshatra the Moon occupied at birth.

The transit. Then the slow planets. The tradition watches Jupiter as it moves over the 7th house, over the lord of the 7th, and over the Moon rashi, and it watches Saturn for whether it is holding the same points down. Jupiter takes about twelve years to circle the chart, so a Jupiter contact on a marriage point is a genuine event and not a monthly horoscope claim.

A window is named only where the period and the transit agree, and only where the chart supports the promise in the first place. One of the three alone is not a prediction.

About the delay everybody is worried about

Saturn touching the 7th house, an afflicted Venus, Rahu or Ketu involved with the marriage houses: these are the placements read as slowing marriage down. The word used in the texts is delay, and delay means later, not never.

In practice, delay usually has a shape you can recognise in the life. Marrying after a career is settled. Marrying after a family responsibility has been discharged. A first engagement that does not go through, and a better one three years later. Charts that show a hard early period for marriage very often show a settled later one, and I would rather tell someone that at twenty-eight than let them spend those years frightened.

I would not prescribe a gemstone to make a marriage arrive sooner, and I would be wary of anyone who offers one for it. Where remedy has a place, it is the household practice you already know, and it is offered as steadying, not as a lever on another person's will.

Reading a specific year, such as 2026

People ask for a timeline for a particular year, and the honest answer is that a year has no meaning by itself. 2026 is a favourable marriage year for some charts and a completely uneventful one for others, and the difference is entirely which mahadasha you are running and where the slow planets fall against your own points.

What can be done, and what is worth doing, is the reverse: take your chart, list the windows the periods open over the next five to seven years, then check which of those windows the transits support. That produces something like three months to nine months in a named year, sometimes two such stretches, with a plain statement of confidence for each. That is the most a chart honestly gives. If it is what you want done, a reading is the place for it, and it is worth understanding what the 7th house itself shows before you ask about timing.

The part that is not in the chart

A window is a window. Whether a marriage happens inside it depends on whether you were looking, whether you said yes, whether the family agreed, and on a hundred ordinary things that belong to you and not to the sky. A good period can pass with nothing asked of it, and a marriage can be made well in a period that looked unremarkable on paper.

The chart tells you when the door is easier to open. It does not walk through it.

Questions people ask

Can you tell me my exact marriage date from my kundli? No, and I would be careful with anyone who says they can. The chart gives periods. A date requires a decision by two families and two people, and that is not written anywhere in the chart. What you can reasonably ask for is a set of windows with the reasoning shown.

My marriage is delayed. Is something wrong with my kundli? Almost certainly not in the way you are imagining. Later marriage is a common and ordinary reading, associated with Saturn, and in a great many charts the later marriage is the more stable one. Delay in a chart is a description of timing, not a defect.

Does Mangal dosha stop marriage from happening? No. It is one factor, it is assessed against the other chart and against the rest of your own, and several placements cancel it in the classical rules themselves. It has been used to frighten families for a long time. Have it checked properly by someone who will show you the reasoning, and do not let a single word decide a life.
