When a chart is being read for marriage, Jupiter is the first place an astrologer looks after the 7th house itself. Where Jupiter's gaze reaches the house of union or its lord, tradition reads a marriage with room in it: patience, growth, a partner treated as a person rather than a possession. Where Jupiter is absent or under pressure, the same marriage tends to be read as needing more work from the people inside it.

That is the honest scope of the claim. Jupiter supports. It does not deliver a happy marriage, and no combination in any chart does, because a marriage is made of conduct as much as of indications.

Why Jupiter carries this weight

Jupiter is called Guru in the tradition, the teacher, and it is associated with expansion, sense, generosity and law. It is the one graha whose gaze is traditionally regarded as protective in itself. Jupiter in the 2nd or the 11th house, or connected to their lords. The 2nd house governs family and the household you build, the 11th governs gains and the wider circle. When Jupiter is not helping

Two cautions about that. A supportive transit with no supporting period running rarely produces much on its own. And a transit is a window of a few months to a year, not a date. Anyone who gives you a wedding date from a transit alone is going well beyond what the method supports.

What Jupiter cannot do

Jupiter's support in a chart is not a substitute for choosing carefully, and it will not hold together a match between two people who want incompatible lives. It does not remove a difficult period from either chart. It does not make a person kind who is not.
