Planetary transits and your relationships through 2026

Three slow transits shape the relationship weather of 2026. Jupiter moves from Gemini into Cancer on 2 June and on into Leo on 31 October, Saturn sits in Pisces for the whole year without moving, and Rahu and Ketu change the axis they have held since May 2025 at the very end of November or in the first days of December. None of them decides whether you meet someone, marry, or separate. What they do is change which questions become hard to avoid.

That distinction matters more than any forecast I could give you. A transit is the sky as it is for everyone on a given day. Your marriage, or the absence of one, is the sky as it was on your birthday, meeting the sky as it is now, in a chart nobody else has. So read what follows as weather, not as a verdict.

What a transit can and cannot tell you

A transit tells you which part of life is being touched, and roughly for how long. It does not tell you the outcome. Tradition holds that Jupiter passing over the seventh house of a kundli, the house of union, tends to bring partnership questions to the surface. It does not hold that Jupiter delivers a spouse, and the same transit is entirely compatible with a wedding, with a long postponed honest conversation, and with nothing happening at all. Same sky, different lives, different choices.

The other thing worth saying plainly is that the transit is only ever the second layer. The first layer is the mahadasha you are running, the long planetary period that colours several years at a time. When a transit and that period point the same way, things move. When they contradict each other, the longer period usually holds and the transit just makes noise. This is why a general yearly forecast for your rashi is such a blunt instrument, and why I would rather look at your own chart than hand you a paragraph written for a twelfth of India.

Jupiter crosses Gemini, Cancer and Leo

Jupiter spent the first stretch of 2026 in Gemini, an airy, talkative sign, moved into Cancer on 2 June, where it is considered strong, and moves on into Leo on 31 October. Three signs in one year is a lot of movement for Jupiter, which usually changes sign once a year, and it is why 2026 does not have one relationship mood but three. It is also not a clean sequence. Jupiter turns retrograde in mid December and steps back into Cancer at the end of January 2027, so the Leo stretch that opens in November closes again for five months before it resumes.

While Jupiter was in Gemini, tradition puts the emphasis on words. Couples who talk tend to do well under it. Couples who have stopped talking notice the silence more. It is a good period for saying the unglamorous thing out loud: what you actually want the next five years to look like, what money you have, what you are afraid of.

Once Jupiter is in Cancer, the emphasis shifts from talk to belonging. Cancer is the sign of home, mother, food, and the feeling of being looked after. Tradition reads this as the stretch where the question changes from whether a partner understands you to whether you could build something with them, and where family enters the picture, sometimes helpfully and sometimes not. From November, in Leo, the emphasis moves again, towards visibility and self expression, which in relationship terms is often the difference between a private understanding and a public one.

Where the Cancer stretch lands in your own life depends on which house Cancer occupies from your Moon rashi. From a Gemini Moon it is the second house, family and money and speech, so the questions arrive through the family rather than between the two of you. From a Sagittarius Moon it is the eighth, which governs shared money, inheritance and change you did not choose, and which is not a marriage transit whatever a forecast tells you. From a Capricorn Moon it is the seventh, the house of union itself, and that is the placement where partnership questions genuinely come to the front. Saturn stays in Pisces all year

Saturn entered Pisces in March 2025 and does not leave until June 2027. That means 2026 is a full year of Saturn in one sign, with no relief and no change of subject.

Saturn is the planet of time, weight, and consequence. In Pisces, a soft and imaginative sign, tradition reads it as the slow removal of illusion. In relationships this usually shows up as one of two things. Either a long standing arrangement that was never quite honest gets tested until it either becomes honest or ends, or a real relationship gets heavy with duty: an ill parent, money pressure, distance, a job that eats the evenings.

Neither is a punishment. Saturn is not a punisher, whatever you have been told. Saturn simply does not let you skip steps. The relationships that survive a Saturn transit tend to come out with clearer edges: who does what, what is agreed, what is not on the table.

Saturn in Pisces also means Sade Sati is running for people with the Moon in Aquarius, Pisces or Aries. If someone has told you that you are under Sade Sati and your marriage is therefore doomed, that person was selling you something. Sade Sati is a demanding period and often a tiring one. It is not a divorce sentence, and tradition does not treat it as one.

Rahu and Ketu change the axis in November

Rahu and Ketu have been on the Aquarius and Leo axis since the end of May 2025. At the close of 2026 they shift, with Rahu moving into Capricorn and Ketu into Cancer, where they stay through 2027. The exact day depends on which node your almanac counts: one using the true node gives about 25 November 2026, one using the mean node about 5 December. That spread is a difference of method rather than an error, so take the date from the almanac you normally follow and stay with it.

The nodal axis is where obsession and detachment sit opposite each other. Wherever Rahu is, tradition holds that appetite grows and judgement gets less reliable. Wherever Ketu is, interest quietly drains away. Ketu arriving in Cancer, the sign of home and belonging, is the part of this shift that shows up in relationships: tradition would expect the pull of home and family to weaken just as Rahu magnifies the appetite for position and standing.

This pair is also the one I look at when someone describes a connection they cannot explain and cannot leave. That is the classic nodal signature. It is also the one most often over dramatised online as a past life bond. A chart can show intensity. It cannot show a previous birth, and anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing with confidence.

What to actually do with any of this

Very little, honestly, and that is the point. The useful response to a transit is not a ritual, it is attention. If Jupiter is crossing your seventh house this year, the sensible move is to have the conversation you have been postponing while the ground is soft. If Saturn is sitting on your Moon, the sensible move is to protect your sleep, keep your promises small and keep them, and stop expecting the year to feel light.

Questions people ask

Will 2026 bring marriage for me? No transit can answer that, and I will not pretend otherwise. Marriage timing in a kundli is read from the seventh house, its lord, and the running planetary period, and even then a good reading gives you a window of a year or two, not a date. Is Sade Sati a bad time to marry? Tradition does not forbid it, and plenty of good marriages begin under it. What Sade Sati usually means in practice is that the first years carry more responsibility than the couple expected. That is worth knowing in advance so it is not mistaken for a mistake.
