When will I get married, and what a kundli can honestly say about it

A kundli can usually narrow marriage to a window, often a year or two wide, and sometimes to a season inside it. It cannot give you a date, it cannot name the person, and it cannot tell you whether a particular introduction will work out. Any page that promises a marriage year from your rashi alone is selling certainty that no astrologer actually has.

I am aware that is not the answer people search for. It is the answer that has held up across twenty five years of doing this, and I would rather say it plainly than let someone plan around a promise.

What is actually read for marriage timing

Four things, together, in this order.

The 7th house and its ruler. The 7th house is the house of union in the kundli. Its condition, the planets in it, and where its ruler sits describe how partnership tends to arrive for you and what kind of arrangement it tends to be. A 7th house ruler placed in a house of delay reads differently from one placed strongly, and that difference is often the whole story of why one sibling married at twenty three and another at thirty four.

Venus, and Jupiter. Venus is the natural indicator of marriage and desire in any chart. Older texts additionally treat Jupiter as an indicator for a woman's chart, and that convention is worth knowing about even where the social assumptions behind it have not aged well. The condition of these two, and the periods they rule, matter.

The period you are running. This is the part most public content leaves out, and it is the part that actually carries timing. A chart is not equally live at all ages. Marriage tends to come up during periods ruled by the 7th house ruler, by Venus, or by a planet connected to the 7th house. If none of those is running, the year rarely produces much regardless of what the transits are doing.

Transits, last. Jupiter crossing the 7th house from your Moon, or crossing the Moon itself, is the classical marker for the question becoming live. Saturn's position matters for whether the process moves quickly or slowly. But a transit only shows up as an event when the birth chart and the running period already support it. Transits trigger. Why "marriage in 2026" articles are wrong by construction

Because they work from your rashi, which is one of twelve possibilities, and marriage timing depends on your birth time, your rising sign, the period you are running and your age. Twelve buckets cannot hold that. A page telling every Taurus that 2026 is their marriage year is telling roughly one in twelve Indians the same thing, and it will be right often enough to look impressive and wrong often enough to hurt people.

What delay usually turns out to be

People come to me convinced there is a dosha blocking their marriage. Sometimes there is a configuration worth discussing. Far more often, three ordinary things are happening.

The first is that the period supporting marriage has not started yet, and in most charts one is identifiable ahead. This is the most common single answer, and it is also the most reassuring one, because it comes with a rough sense of when.

The second is that the chart indicates a later marriage as its normal pattern. Some charts simply do. A person whose 7th house ruler sits with Saturn is not being punished, they are on a slower clock, and marriages made on that clock are frequently the steadier ones.

The third has nothing to do with the chart. Family expectations that have narrowed the field to almost nobody, a job in another city, a search that is not actually being conducted. I say this to people regularly and it is not a popular thing to say: the chart describes a tendency, and a tendency does not act on its own.

Mangal dosha, and the fear around it

Mangal dosha, where Mars sits in particular houses from the rising sign or the Moon, is the single most feared item in Indian marriage astrology, and the fear is out of proportion to what the texts actually claim. It is common. It has well established cancellations that most people never hear about because the cancellation does not frighten anyone into a consultation.

What I will say plainly: a Mangal dosha in isolation is not a reason to refuse a match, and it has been used to break off far more good proposals than it has ever protected. If someone has told you your marriage is blocked by it, get a second reading before you accept that.

Where Guna Milan fits, and where it does not

Guna Milan compares two charts and produces a score out of thirty six. It is genuinely useful as one input, particularly for what it says about temperament and long-term ease between two people. It is not a verdict, and a score is not a marriage.

A high score is no guarantee of ease and a modest one is no bar to a long marriage, and I have seen both often enough to decline deciding a match on the number. When families ask me to do exactly that, I say so. What the comparison is good for is naming, in advance, the two or three friction points a couple is likely to have, so that they are not a surprise in year four.

What a reading can honestly offer you

A realistic window rather than a date. A description of the kind of partnership the chart indicates, which is often more useful than the timing. An honest read on whether a specific configuration is worth worrying about, which usually means being told it is not. And, where the chart shows a slower pattern, the period after which the question genuinely opens up.

If that is what you want, a focused reading answers exactly one question of this kind from your actual birth data. Bring an accurate birth time if you have one, because everything above is counted from the rising sign, and a time that is off by an hour can move it.

Can an astrologer tell me the exact year I will marry?

No, and be careful with anyone who says otherwise. What a chart supports is a window, usually a year or two wide, based on the periods that favour marriage and the transits that tend to trigger it. Some readings land remarkably close. Presenting that as precision, rather than as a good estimate, is dishonest.

Does a bad Guna Milan score mean we should not marry?

Not on its own. The score is one input among several and it describes likely friction, not compatibility as a whole. A low score is worth a conversation about what specifically is mismatched. It is not a reason to end something that is otherwise working, and it is not insurance if the rest of the picture is poor.

My chart is said to show late marriage. Is there anything to be done?

Late is a comparison, not a defect, and it usually means later than a family expected rather than late in any real sense. There is no ritual that reorganises a chart. What genuinely helps is knowing roughly when the supporting period begins, so that the years before it are spent on your own life rather than on waiting, and so the search is real when the window opens.
