Vedic astrology in 2027: the transits that matter and the ones that do not

2027 has three slow transits worth knowing about. Saturn finishes its long stay in Pisces and moves into Aries in June, though it comes back into Pisces in October and only settles in Aries in February 2028. Jupiter spends the first half of the year moving between Leo and Cancer, settles in Leo at the end of June, and reaches Virgo at the end of November. Rahu and Ketu hold the Capricorn and Cancer axis for the whole year, having moved there in late November 2026. Everything else in a yearly forecast is either faster and shorter lived, or invented.

I want to be direct about what a yearly prediction can honestly be. It can tell you what the sky is doing and which parts of life that tends to activate. It cannot tell you what will happen to you, because what happens to you depends on a chart that is yours alone and on decisions you have not made yet. A forecast that promises one twelfth of the population a promotion in August is not reading anything.

Saturn moves from Pisces into Aries, and then back again

Saturn has been in Pisces since March 2025. It enters Aries in the first week of June 2027, returns to Pisces in the third week of October 2027, and enters Aries again at the end of February 2028, where it then stays.

That double crossing is the part almost every yearly forecast leaves out, and it matters more than the headline date. Saturn stays in a sign for about two and a half years, so a sign change is a genuine event, but a slow planet changing signs is rarely a clean line. It steps over, steps back, and only settles months later.

Two practical things follow.

First, Sade Sati changes hands, in stages. Sade Sati runs while Saturn passes through the twelfth, first and second signs counted from your Moon rashi. With Saturn in Pisces it has been running for Aquarius, Pisces and Aries Moons. When Saturn reaches Aries in June, Aquarius Moons come out of it, Pisces Moons enter the closing phase, Aries Moons enter the middle phase, and Taurus Moons begin. Then in October Saturn returns to Pisces and the previous arrangement resumes until the end of February 2028.

So if you have an Aquarius Moon and have been carrying a heavy few years, what tradition describes is a period of relief in the middle of 2027 and a return of the same conditions in the autumn, with the cycle properly finished in early 2028. I would rather tell you that than hand you a date and let you feel misled in October.

Second, Saturn in Aries is a harder placement than Saturn in Pisces for anyone whose plans depend on speed. Aries wants to begin. Saturn wants proof that the ground is solid. Aries is also Saturn's sign of debilitation, which the older texts read less as harm than as a setting where the planet is out of its element: forcing an outcome works especially badly, and steady effort works better than it looks like it is working while you are doing it. In practical terms, the placement favours the person who finishes what they started over the person who starts something new in a hurry.

Jupiter crosses Cancer, Leo and Virgo

Jupiter is not in one sign in 2027 either. It begins the year in Leo, returns to Cancer at the end of January, goes back into Leo at the end of June, and reaches Virgo at the end of November. Jupiter changes sign roughly once a year, so a year with this much movement is unusual.

While Jupiter is in Cancer, where tradition considers it strongest, the emphasis falls on home, family, property and emotional security. Once it is in Leo, the emphasis moves to visibility, authority, children and self expression. Whether that helps you depends entirely on where Leo sits in your own chart. From a Leo Moon it is the first house and reads as a year of being seen. From a Cancer Moon it is the second, and reads as family and money. From a Scorpio Moon it is the tenth, work and public standing. Same transit, three different years.

Rahu and Ketu hold the Capricorn and Cancer axis

The nodes moved onto Capricorn and Cancer in late November 2026 and stay there through the whole of 2027, moving on around the middle of 2028. Rahu in Capricorn, Ketu in Cancer.

The nodal axis is also the eclipse axis, so the eclipses of 2027 fall mainly along the Cancer and Capricorn line. The two solar eclipses of the year are on 6 February, with the Sun in Capricorn, and on 2 August, with the Sun in Cancer. The August eclipse is a long total one and will be the most discussed astronomical event of the year. I will say something unpopular here. An eclipse is not a disaster. It is a shadow with a schedule, known centuries in advance. Tradition asks that you avoid starting important things during one and treat the day quietly. It does not ask you to be afraid, and it does not predict accidents.

Read the axis this way. Rahu magnifies whatever house it falls in and makes judgement there less reliable. Ketu drains interest from the opposite house. Twelve paragraphs cannot cover a billion people, and the honest version of the arithmetic is simple. A sun sign or moon sign forecast uses one factor. A real reading uses the whole chart, the house each transit falls into from your own ascendant and Moon, and the mahadasha you are running.

That long planetary period is the part yearly forecasts almost never mention, and it is usually the deciding factor. Two people with the same Moon rashi can have completely different years because one is in a Jupiter period and the other in a Rahu period. When the period and the transit agree, things move. When they disagree, the period generally holds and the transit produces noise rather than change. Any forecast that does not know it is describing weather over a country, not over your house.

What 2027 is actually good for

If you want the practical shape of the year rather than a prediction: the first half continues the conditions of 2026, the middle of the year moves two of the three slow transits at once, and the autumn partly reverses one of them. That is a year to plan in pencil.

Long projects that need patience are better placed in the first half. Things that need visibility and a public face are better placed after Jupiter settles into Leo in the second half. Anything you have been putting off because it is boring and structural, a will, a property paper, a health check, belongs in a Saturn year, and 2027 is one.
